FAQ's (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)
Q - What games do you host events for?
A - Currently we offer sanctioned Magic: The Gathering tournaments. Please CONTACT US if you are interested in organizing events for other games.
Q - Do you play video games?
A - No we don't. Although many great cooperative games are available, we believe that our environment is best suited by enjoying the camaraderie and social interaction that comes with playing board games or collectable card games. Handheld video game systems such as Nintendo Game Boy and Sony PSP are not allowed at our events as stated in the CCG Rules.
Q - How much does it cost?
A - Just attending for casual play is absolutely free. Nearly all of our sanctioned Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments are free, as is Pokémon League play. Our Magic: The Gathering booster draft events have a nominal fee but casual play is free and encouraged.
Q - I have a group that plays a certain game and we need a place to play. Can we join your group?
A - Of course! We have enough space to comfortably seat up to 50 players. With a little rearrangement, we can seat up to nearly 100 people. We have large banquet tables, large circular tables, and a small number of card tables that can be used to set up board games or card games. As long as all particpants abide by our rules, anyone is invited to join us.
Q - Do you have many parents that show up?
A - Of course. Many of our tournament organizers are adults. We also have many fathers that participate in our events with their children.
Q - Are you capable of handling emergency situations?
A - We are, to a certain degree. We take steps to find out if any of our regular players have any condition that could ever remotely become a concern. It's important that our leadership is aware of individuals with food allergies, diabetes, or other conditions that may require immediate medical attention. In severe weather situations or fire, we have contingency plans and escape routes. For further information regarding emergencies, please click HERE.
Q - Is anyone CPR certified?
A - As yet, the answer is no, however, we are aware that steps must be taken to have CPR certified leadership available at any time.
Q - How does one meet with the responsible individuals before participating or dropping of my child?
A - Typically, our sanctioned events are operated and/or judged by members of our Board of Directors. To help you easily spot our board members while dropping your child off at an event, etc., feel free to check out our board member's profiles by clicking HERE.
Q - What life skills can people learn by attending these events?
A - Beyond the obvious social skills; strategy, mathematics, and reading are necessary skills to improve our game-play. Many of us, during casual conversation, offer up advice about other life skills such as how to apply and interview for a job or even apply for a bank account.
